In an effort to bolster its commitment to addressing climate change and advancing Qatar's diplomatic role in global sustainability efforts, members of the Diplomatic Institute (DI) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) recently participated in a two-day capacity building workshop on “Climate Diplomacy” at the Diplomatic Club.

The event gathered 30 representatives from the Diplomatic Institute, and featured presentations and discussions led by Dr. Yousef Alhorr, Founding Chairman the Gulf Organisation for Research & Development (GORD) and Global Carbon Council (GCC). Dr. Alhorr shared insights on three key themes: the principles and fundamentals of climate change science, international agreements on climate action, and the efforts and role of the State of Qatar in climate action.

The central and overarching purpose of the recent workshop was to equip Diplomatic Institute members with a thorough and extensive education on climate change, solidly anchored in the principles of Qatar National Vision 2030 (QNV 2030).

Dr. Yousef Alhorr is a prominent figure in the field of sustainability. With extensive experience and expertise, Dr. Alhorr's contributions have been invaluable in the Gulf region and beyond. He is particularly renowned for his work in sustainable development, technological innovation and educational advancement. GORD, under Dr. Alhorr's leadership, plays a vital role in aligning Qatar's efforts with the QNV 2030 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
