Qatar's Minister of Commerce and Industry appreciates GORD's sustainable projects

Qatar’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Thani, visited Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP) on Sunday, 19 March 2023, to learn about the cutting-edge research and development activities taking place in the state-of-the-art facility. During his visit, he met leaders of QSTP member companies, including the Gulf Organisation for Research & Development (GORD).

Representing GORD’s senior leadership, Founding Chairman, Dr. Yousef Alhorr, provided an overview of the organization's sustainable projects and research initiatives. Dr. Alhorr highlighted the success of GORD’s Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS), which is a comprehensive framework for evaluating the environmental impact of buildings and infrastructure projects. He also shared details about GORD's research, in energy efficiency and eco-friendly materials, ongoing at TechnoHub inside QSTP.

In addition, Dr. Alhorr highlighted the achievements of GORD's spinout company, Global Carbon Council (GCC), which is the only voluntary carbon market in the MENA region. GCC provides a platform for businesses to offset their carbon emissions and contribute to global efforts to combat climate change.

Concluding the tour, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Thani praised QSTP’s efforts to foster innovation in the country. He also commended QSTP member companies, including GORD, for their contributions to research and development initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable development of the country.
