MEED, in association with Gulf Organisation for Research and Development (GORD), launched today Qatar Sustainable Building Forum at the Renaissance City Centre Hotel in Doha. The two-day forum gathered international experts in the field to discuss how technology can be used to improve building performance and reduce carbon emissions.
Dr Yousef Al Horr, founding chairman of GORD delivered keynote address at the event, said “13 new standards would be added to the Qatar Sustainability Assessment System (QSAS) by the year-end.” Al Horr shed light about the latest updates for GSAS/QSAS & showcased how the system is integrated within all stakeholders of the built industry in Qatar.
The Forum emphasized the increase in momentum behind the idea that green buildings can serve as a solution to environmental and business challenges, and that a more coherent approach to their development will deliver significant economic benefits to project developers and end users alike.
