GORD Participates in QF Cafe to Highlight the Importance of Reducing Carbon Emissions


The Gulf Organization for Research and Development (GORD) participated in this year’s edition of the QF + Cafe event, organized by Qatar Foundation on the 25th of February 2019. The event aimed at highlighting the issues of sustainability and environment preservation, trying to increase the awareness of community members regarding the importance of collaboratively joining forces to reduce carbon emissions.
GORD received many of the event’s visitors and participants, who acquired information and comprehensive explanations from GORD experts on sustainability matters and how to work together to combat climate change and reduce carbon emissions, emphasizing that environmental sustainability and health go hand in hand to improve our lifestyle permanently.


Commenting on inviting GORD to participate in the QF + Cafe event, Dr. Yousuf Alhorr, GORD’s Founding Chairman, said,
We are delighted to be invited by Qatar Foundation’s to participate in this event, which aims at raising the awareness of the community regarding carbon emissions practices and the measures taken to mitigate those emissions.
He also expressed his deep thanks to Her Highness Sheikha Hind Bint Hamad Al Thani, CEO of Qatar Foundation, for fostering issues that are related to sustainability and enhancing the consciousness of the Qatari society regarding such matters. He also added,
There is no doubt that empowering visitors and participants to make personal decisions to reduce their carbon footprints will contribute to enhancing the community’s awareness of sustainability and maintaining a healthy environment. Every one of us can do a lot, either in relation to his / her personal or family life, to maintain a sustainable and green environment for all.
Meanwhile, the visitors enjoyed a presentation on the activities of the organization in the field of urban environment and buildings that are classified as green and environment-friendly, the organization’s research initiatives and programs, as well as the organization’s many partnerships in Qatar and the region in order to promote the concepts of reducing carbon emissions and qualifying engineers and specialists to evaluate new and current buildings to guarantee their compliance with the standards of green building.



At the same time, participants in the event also watched a documentary about the GORD establishment in KidzMondo (the Education and Entertainment City for Children), which aims at raising the awareness of children regarding how to conserve energy and how to reduce their carbon footprints.
The visitors enjoyed the methods and aids provided by the organization’s experts to identify the meaning of carbon footprint, the importance of reducing it, and how to calculate their carbon footprints using a calculator designed specifically for this purpose.
