Lusail showcases sustainable projects at Expo Milano
Lusail Real Estate Development Company has showcased its latest environment-friendly and sustainable architectural designs to hundreds of visitors who toured the Qatar Pavilion at the Expo Milano 2015.
Officials from Lusail Real Estate Development Company briefed visitors on the Global Sustainability Assessment System, a green building certification system developed for Gulf Cooperation Council countries and currently applied in the development of Lusail City.
Issa Mohammed Ali Kaldari, CEO of Lusail Real Estate Development Company, said the firm aimed through its participation in the Expo Milano 2015 to familiarise visitors with the progress that Qatar’s construction industry has accomplished so far in terms of architectural design and sustainability standards.
“There is no doubt that Expo Milano provides a window of opportunity for countries to exchange expertise in several fields. We, at Lusail Real Estate Development Company, seek to share our expertise in the development of large-scale green and sustainable projects such as Lusail City,” he said.
Kaldari added that Lusail City embodies Qatar’s vision of a modern sustainable city that combines tradition and technological advancement. Representatives from Lusail Real Estate Development Company held two presentations entitled “Lusail, the city of the Future” to brief more than 500 visitors about the unique features of Lusail City. The presentations familiarised visitors with the smart features and high-level infrastructure currently under development at Lusail City including power grids, water supply networks, fiber optic cables, security surveillance systems and parking management systems.
Spread over an area of over 38 square kilometers, Lusail City is considered one of the largest urban development projects in the world. The city will host more than 200,000 residents, create close to 170,000 jobs and is expected to attract more than 80,000 visitors. It will be home to schools, hospitals, entertainment and leisure facilities, health and medical centers and malls.
The Expo Milano 2015 is an international fair that takes place over a six-month period. The fair provides a platform for the exchange of ideas between experts, businessmen and investors on food security under the theme “Feeding the planet. Energy for life.”
The expo, which aims to provide a platform for dialogue about food production, health, energy and sustainability issues, hosts more than 84 pavilion representing 54 countries along with a number of corporations and civil society organisations.
