GORD’s role in Expo 2023 highlighted at Qatar’s Recycling Conference

The Gulf Organisation for Research and Development (GORD) concluded its participation at the 3rd Recycling Towards Sustainability Conference & Exhibition 2023, held in Qatar on May 9 and 10. Organized under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Abdulla bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, Minister of Municipality, the event brought together senior officials from Qatar, as well as representatives from various countries and experts in the waste management and recycling sector at both local and international levels.
One of the central topics of discussion during the conference was the sustainability plan for the upcoming Doha Horticultural Expo 2023. During his presentation, Mr. Mohammad Alkhoury, Head of the Doha Expo 2023 Organizing Committee, highlighted the pivotal role that GORD would play in delivering the event's sustainability commitment. GORD will be offering consulting and advisory services to the organizers of the Expo 2023. The services provided by GORD will assist Doha Expo 2023 in meeting the sustainability requirements set by the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH). The scope of GORD's contribution will be extensive, covering various aspects of sustainability planning and implementation.


At the 3rd Recycling Towards Sustainability Conference & Exhibition 2023, sustainability experts from GORD also participated through presentations. Senior representative of GSAS Trust, GORD’s Center of Excellence, presented on the implementation of the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS) in achieving a circular economy for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 stadiums. He highlighted the innovative strategies, materials and technologies employed to minimize waste, maximize resource efficiency, and create a lasting legacy of sustainability for Qatar 2022.
Another presentation was delivered by GORD Institute that focused on academic and scientific research in the field of waste management. The presentation also highlighted GORD's projects that are aimed at promoting research and innovation in waste management.
