GORD’s Gulf Carbon Trust is Now a Member of IETA
Recently GORD’s Affiliate Global Carbon Council (GCC) was awarded membership of the renowned global organization International Emissions Trading Association (IETA). GCT is a voluntary regional carbon market program of GORD, that is now placed by IETA as a member in its Standards category, among other global giants in the industry.
GCT has a significant role to perform in MENA region to catalyze climate actions as well as spreading the positive message on Paris Agreement. And to do this, GCT has established a regulatory framework to facilitate issuance of carbon credits to projects of organisations in the MENA region.
Mr. Dirk Forrister, President & CEO IETA visited GORD office earlier this month and met Dr. Yousef Alhorr (Founding Chairman GORD) to understand the regional context for a possible collaboration between IETA and GORD. Thanking him for his visit, Dr. Yousef Alhorr commented:
Regional markets have a critical role in climate actions and regional economic diversification side-by-side and in sync with the international carbon market. We would be happy to join hands with IETA and to have joint activities in capacity building and raising awareness on climate mitigation and Paris Agreement implementation.
IETA is a global nonprofit business organisation created to serve businesses engaged in the field of carbon markets with the objective to build international policy and market frameworks for reducing greenhouse gases at the lowest possible cost.
