GORD joins BIT'24 Doha, emphasizes green finance for sustainable development
Gathering leading experts from banking, tech and sustainability fields, the recent Banking Innovation and Technology Summit (BIT'24 Doha) was joined by the Gulf Organisation for Research & Development (GORD), represented by senior members of GORD Advisory – a center of excellence that provides sustainability advisory services and specializes in strategizing sustainable development through bespoke solutions, aligning organizations’ business needs with environmental sustainability goals.
During the event, a panel discussion titled “Empowering A Sustainable Future: Green Finance” featured prominent industry leaders and experts, from leading organizations including GORD, who discussed the crucial role banks play in advancing sustainable finance. They explored innovative strategies to leverage carbon credits' value, the integration of blockchain technology for managing passwords, and the incorporation of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) risk assessments and incentives into banking operations. Collaboration with local governments and data collection for improved sustainability efforts, as well as the potential benefits of voluntary carbon markets, were also highlighted.
GORD's presence at BIT'24 Doha is particularly relevant as GORD Advisory is actively working with leading banks in Qatar to support their climate objectives. Central to GORD Advisory’s mission is providing comprehensive ESG and sustainable finance advisory services, powered by custom-built ESG tech solutions. One of its most recent collaborations is with Doha Bank, that involves developing a tailored ESG strategy aligned with international standards and Qatar Central Bank’s requirements, identifying material issues, and integrating them into the bank’s core operations – from lending and investment practices to product development.
