During their recent trip to Qatar, Mr. Federico Addiechi, Head of Sustainability & Diversity at FIFA and Ms. Madleen Noreisch, Programme Manager attended a GSAS Operations workshop at the Qatar National Convention Center organized by GORD with the support of Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC).

After the workshop, the FIFA representatives accompanied by Mr. Shashi Prakash and Mr. Orjan Lundberg from SC visited the GORD office at the Qatar Science and Technology Park where Dr. Yousef Alhorr, Founding Chairman GORD received them and provided an overview of GORD’s activities and projects.  The guests then proceeded to the nearby TechnoHub research facility along with Dr. Yousef and SC members to see the various R&D projects.

At this occasion Mr. Federico Addiechi expressed his satisfaction and commended the efforts and progress by Doha in the field of sustainability saying:

Thanks to our sustainability working group with SC and the local organizing committee, I had another opportunity to visit Doha after attending Green Expo last year. We really appreciate GORD’s efforts to give us the GSAS Design, Construction and Operations systems. They are an exemplary model, not just for Qatar and this region, but also worldwide.

Dr. Yousef also thanked the FIFA team for their visit and encouragement saying:

We are grateful to FIFA and SC for placing their confidence in our expertise and efforts. We are constantly working on many aspects of sustainability from researching innovative solutions to making them available for use and from training professionals in the implementation of GSAS to certifying and introducing green products. We believe a comprehensive and collaborative approach to sustainability will lead us to our shared vision of a greener region and a cleaner world.
