GORD conducts training for Accredited Energy Practitioner program
The Gulf Organisation for Research and Development (GORD), in collaboration with the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa), organized a workshop for “Accredited Energy Practitioner" program.
The two-day workshop aimed to raise awareness about modern energy auditing techniques and provide the necessary knowledge and tools to assess electricity and water consumption in buildings, contributing to a more sustainable future.
GORD’s Founding Chairman, Dr. Yousef Alhorr, who was present at the event to hand over the participation certificates, said, “Energy efficiency is crucial for the Gulf region’s energy transition. To this end, Kahramaa has taken a commendable initiative by gathering professionals from across the GCC under one roof. This collaborative environment is essential for driving us towards a greener future. This workshop, which is part of the 'Accredited Energy Practitioner' program, comes as an important resource as it equips engineers from GCC countries with crucial skills to enhance building efficiency and support our sustainability goals.”
The workshop included a practical application of energy and water auditing in a building, conducted by a team of experts from GORD. It targeted engineers from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries working in the field of electricity and water efficiency. The workshop is part of the activities of the National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency “Tarsheed.”
Topics covered in the workshop included the impact of energy efficiency on the environment and economy, and equipping participants with the skills and knowledge required to apply the latest methods and technologies in the energy sector. Key elements included an introduction to energy fundamentals, energy auditing in buildings, pre-audit preparation, real-world measurements, data analysis, and a focus on building materials, insulation, heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) systems, lighting, and other equipment, as well as building controls and energy audit reporting.
As part of its commitment to enhancing education and professional development in energy efficiency and the goals of the National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency “Tarsheed,” Kahramaa arranged a field visit to TehnoHub – GORD’s RDI facility located inside Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP). This visit provided participants with the opportunity to explore the latest technologies used to improve energy efficiency. During the visit, experts from GORD showcased practical experiments and research conducted in the lab, offering an interactive learning experience and deepening participants' understanding of how to enhance energy efficiency in buildings.
This workshop is part of GORD and Kahramaa’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness about the importance of energy efficiency, build professional capacity, stimulate creative ideas, and exchange experiences on the latest methods for applying modern technologies.
