GORD 3D showcases advanced additive manufacturing solutions at ConteQ Expo 2024
The Gulf Organisation for Research & Development (GORD) has concluded a successful participation at ConteQ Expo 2024, which took place from September 16 to 18 at the Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC). Held under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Prime Minister of the State of Qatar, the event highlighted innovations in the construction and services sectors, providing a platform for GORD to showcase its advancements in additive manufacturing.
Hosted by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry (MOCI), Ministry of Labour (MOL), and Public Works Authority 'Ashghal', ConteQ Expo 2024 focused on transformative solutions aimed at improving productivity, quality, reliability, cost efficiency, waste reduction, and energy use. The event was structured around three key pillars: Innovative BuildTech including 3D printing, Services Accelerators, and Policy Pathfinders.
GORD's participation at the ConteQ Expo 2024 centered around its newly established Center of Excellence called GORD 3D. As Qatar's leading destination for additive manufacturing, GORD 3D offers a comprehensive range of services to various industries, including oil and gas, aerospace, medical, construction, and more. The center's capabilities include 3D printing and prototyping, reverse engineering, CAD modeling, digital inventory, 3D scanning, and research and development services.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Dr. Yousef Alhorr, Founding Chairman of GORD, said, “Platforms like ConteQ Expo 2024 are instrumental in showcasing Qatar's massive potential across various areas including its burgeoning additive manufacturing ecosystem. By highlighting our advanced capabilities at GORD 3D, we are here to create greater awareness and encourage adoption of these transformative 3D printing technologies which are now locally available. By leveraging our additive manufacturing solutions, organizations can optimize their operations, reduce costs, and drive innovation, all while contributing to a more resilient and sustainable supply chain.”
At the Expo, experts from GORD 3D were on hand to demonstrate the center's capabilities through various 3D-printed samples and to address inquiries from attendees. In addition to its presence at the exhibition, GORD contributed to the conference segment of ConteQ Expo 2024 through a series of influential presentations delivered by its senior experts. These presentations covered a range of topics including the introduction to additive manufacturing, providing a comprehensive overview of the fundamental principles and emerging trends in 3D printing technologies, setting the stage for understanding their broader applications. They also shared insights on the future of additive manufacturing in delivery on demand, exploring how these technologies are evolving to meet the increasing demand for customized and rapid production solutions, highlighting their potential to revolutionize supply chains and manufacturing processes. Moreover, GORD 3D’s presentation on “The Importance of Laser Powder Bed Fusion in the Oil and Gas Sector for Producing Spare Parts" detailed how additive manufacturing can address the sector’s unique challenges, such as part obsolescence and the need for high-performance components.
ConteQ Expo 2024 attracted a diverse range of attendees, including construction professionals, government officials, industry experts, technology providers, investors, and students, who gathered to explore the latest innovations in construction technology, network with industry peers, and gain insights into the future of sustainable development.
Throughout the three-day event, GORD’s booth remained a point of interest for many, drawing significant attention from professionals and decision-makers keen to understand how GORD’s 3D printing innovations could be leveraged to optimize their businesses.
