GORD Awards Organizations for their Leadership and Commitment to Adopt Sustainability Best Practices

GORD’s Sustainability Awards 2018 recognizes the first 11 local and international organizations to adopt GSAS Certifications and the first to obtain GSAS 5 Stars rating in their projects on the sidelines of the Sustainability Summit 2018’s opening ceremony last month.

Organized every year by GORD, the Sustainability Summit is the leading sustainability experts’ gathering in the MENA region that focuses on two main themes: Sustainable Built Environment and Carbon & Climate Change. Each year, GORD presents the Sustainability Awards to a list of organizations for their leadership & commitment to adopt sustainability best practices in the design, construction & operation of different types of developments, including new construction, existing buildings, renovations and interior design projects.

This year’s Sustainability Awards consisted of two main categories: ECO Champions and Outstanding Projects Awards. This year’s ECO Champion Awards were granted to organizations and government entities for being the first to adopt GSAS sustainability best practices in their projects including new, as well as, renovated ones. The Outstanding Projects Awards, on the other hand, were awarded to the first projects to achieve GSAS certification, demonstrating their adherence to GSAS sustainability requirements for a Five Stars Rating.

Public Works Authority “Ashghal,” the first organization to adopt the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS) in its various projects.

Qatar Railway Company, the first railway company to adopt the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS) in its railway infrastructure projects.

Qatar General Organization for Standards and Metrology, for adopting the Green Building Standards at the Qatar National Construction Standards.

Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company for adopting the Global Sustainability Assessment System at the district level, as well as in all its building projects.

Internal Security Forces, “Lekhwiya.” Lekhwiya Police City is the first Security City to meet the sustainability requirements of the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS).

Barwa Real Estate Group: the first organization to adopt the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS).

Al-Sendian Group: Al-Sendian Tower is the first private-owned administrative offices building to fulfill the sustainability requirements of GSAS Design & Built 5 Star rating.

Aspire Zone Foundation: Al Bayt Stadium at Al Khor is one of the first stadiums to meet the requirements of GSAS Construction Management Certification A* – 5 Star Rating.

Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy: Al Wakrah Stadium at Al Wakrah is one the first stadium to meet the requirements of GSAS Construction Management Certification A* – 5 Star Rating.
