GORD and the UN Environment Programme sign a MoU to Promote Sustainability & Carbon Neutrality

The Gulf Organisation for Research & Development and the United Nations Environment Programme sign a MoU to promote sustainability and carbon neutrality that support the UN Sustainable Development Goals on the first day of the Sustainability Summit 2018. 

The MoU, which was signed by Dr. Yousef Al-Horr, Founding Chairman of GORD, and Abdul-Majeid Haddad, Acting Deputy Director of the United Nations Environment West Asia Office, facilitates the way for a long-term cooperation on several areas of common interest, such as education, research, and outreach initiatives that aim to advance the development agenda of the sustainable building and the advancement of refrigeration and air conditioning technologies for hot and harsh climates.

The purpose of the singed MoU is to advance the research agenda on energy, environment and sustainability in the regional in order to achieve low carbon emission and climate resilient development. Especially, the MoU focuses on the development and promotion of dedicated initiatives addressing sustainability in the sports sector. The most impacted stakeholders targeted under this MoU are from industry and younger generation of society.
