ASHRAE leadership holds high-level meeting with GORD

A senior delegation from the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), led by its President M. Dennis Knight, visited the Gulf Organisation for Research and Development (GORD) headquarters in Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP). During the visit, they held a high-level meeting with GORD’s Founding Chairman, Dr. Yousef Alhorr, and other senior officials from the organization.
The meeting underscored the long-standing relationship between ASHRAE and GORD, both of which have been actively working towards providing energy-efficient solutions for the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) sector. Discussions during the visit centered on future collaborative plans aimed at advancing energy efficiency and sustainability within the built environment. Both organizations explored avenues for joint initiatives and knowledge sharing to address the unique challenges and opportunities presented by the region's hot climate.

Expressing his thoughts on the prospects of the recent meeting, Dr. Yousef Alhorr, Founding Chairman of GORD, said, “Our engagement with ASHRAE was a strategic step toward deepening the strong partnership between our organizations. As a direct result of our discussions, we are set to formalize a collaboration that prioritizes impactful capacity-building initiatives, paving the way for meaningful progress in our shared goals.”
A key topic of the discussions centered on a potential collaboration between ASHRAE and GORD to significantly enhance the implementation of GORD’s Energia Suite, a performance-based energy assessment tool grounded in the CEN/ISO standard.
