GORD Chairman delivers sustainability lecture at Qatar Investment Authority headquarters
Founding Chairman of the Gulf Organisation for Research and Development (GORD), Dr. Yousef Alhorr, was hosted by the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) to deliver a lecture on the sustainability landscape in Qatar. The session, that was held as part of the ongoing Qatar Sustainability Week activities at QIA headquarters, saw attendance from senior representatives of various departments within QIA, underscoring the organization's commitment to integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors into its operations and investment strategy.
During his lecture, Dr. Alhorr provided a comprehensive overview of global climate developments, beginning with a discussion on international frameworks such as the Paris Agreement and their implications for global decarbonization efforts. He outlined emerging trends in sustainability, emphasizing the interconnectedness of environmental, social, and economic goals on a global scale.
Zooming in on regional and national contexts, Dr. Alhorr highlighted Qatar’s proactive role in advancing the sustainability agenda under the country’s visionary political leadership. He elaborated on the alignment of Qatar’s ongoing initiatives with the Qatar National Vision 2030, as well as the Qatar National Environment and Climate Change Strategy (QNE) and the Qatar’s National Climate Change Action Plan, highlighting their significance in achieving long-term environmental resilience and economic diversification.
Following the lecture, Dr. Alhorr presented awards of recognition to several QIA members for their outstanding contributions in leading and supporting green initiatives within the organization.
