GORD hosts first public Accredited Energy Professional Workshop

The Gulf Organisation for Research & Development (GORD) held the first public Accredited Energy Professional (AEP) workshop in Qatar on September 25 and 26, at Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC). Previously, this training program had been offered exclusively to leading companies in Qatar, Kuwait, and the UAE. The event attracted over 20 attendees, looking to enhance their skills in energy auditing for existing buildings.

The workshop featured a comprehensive curriculum that began with foundational concepts and progressed to in-depth training on various aspects of energy audits. Attendees engaged with GORD experts through technical presentations covering essential topics such as the fundamentals of energy, the introduction to energy auditing in buildings, levels of effort in energy audits, and audit plan management.

Specialized sessions included on-site measurements, data analysis, building fabric assessments, HVAC systems, lighting systems, domestic hot water management, building controls, and energy audit reporting. Participants also explored the MARS Principle for energy efficiency and utilized GORD’s energy simulation tools like Arcadia and Energia Suites to enhance their understanding of energy auditing methodologies.

The event concluded with case studies that provided practical insights into enhancing energy efficiency across diverse building portfolios. GORD's AEP certification program is structured to empower energy professionals with the necessary knowledge to excel in their field, fostering sustainable energy practices in the region.
