GORD concludes participation at Cityscape Qatar 2023

The Gulf Organisation for Research and Development (GORD) recently joined Cityscape Qatar 2023 as the event's Official Sustainability Partner. Organized under the esteemed patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cityscape Qatar took place from October 24 to 26 at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center. The event attracted industry professionals, homebuyers, investors and stakeholders keen on exploring the latest opportunities, insights and trends in the real estate market.

At Cityscape Qatar, GORD representatives engaged in an insightful discussion on Qatar's commitment to sustainability and the role of real-estate community. During this session, the organization’s sustainability experts shared facts and statistics on green building certification in Qatar, along with knowledge on GSAS certification methodology and GORD's role in shaping the GCC Standardization Organization's Sustainable Construction Code, emphasizing the evolution from voluntary certification to mandatory green building regulations.

Another key activity of GORD during Cityscape was its MoU signing with United Development Company (UDC). The MoU outlines a collaboration focusing on several key areas including the implementation of the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS) on UDC projects, among which will be the facilities within Gewan Island – UDC’s latest mixed-use development featuring residential, commercial and entertainment projects spanning 400,000 sqm. As part of a joint capacity building program, GORD and UDC will work to educate professionals on sustainable practices, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to contribute to a sustainable built environment. Other areas of collaboration covered in the MoU include research and development (R&D) to support sustainable innovations, development of sustainable cities and communities, and initiatives aimed at achieving carbon mitigation.
