Leading organizations join GORD's AEP Training Program to drive energy efficiency

GORD hosts energy practitioner workshop

The Gulf Organisation for Research & Development (GORD) recently concluded its two-day Accredited Energy Practitioner (AEP) training program held at Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) in Doha. The intensive workshop provided energy professionals with the specialized knowledge and skills required to achieve the prestigious AEP certification.

During the two-day event, participants engaged in in-depth sessions that covered both practical and strategic aspects of energy management. The program delved into energy audits and sustainability rating, equipping attendees with the knowledge to evaluate building performance and benchmark efficiency levels. Detailed discussions on the energy audit process provided step-by-step insights into assessing energy consumption patterns and identifying inefficiencies. Building on this, the workshop highlighted energy saving opportunities (ESOs), showcasing practical measures and technologies that can drive measurable reductions in energy use. Participants also gained exposure to best practices in energy reporting and resources, enhancing their ability to document findings, develop actionable recommendations, and support decision-making. Rounding off the training was a focus on pathways to decarbonization, where experts emphasized strategies to align energy optimization efforts with broader climate goals and national sustainability targets.

The training program saw the participation of professionals from leading public and private entities including Civil Service and Government Development Bureau, Qatar Museums, KEO International Consultants, Waseef, and Mosanada, among others. Following the workshop, the candidates will sit for a certification exam. Those who successfully pass will earn the AEP designation. Valid for three years from the date of issuance, the AEP certification authorizes practitioners to conduct energy audits for existing buildings during their operational phase.
