Nigeria’s leading professionals complete GSAS training at GORD

A senior delegation from Nigeria recently attended an intensive, exclusive workshop on the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS), hosted by the Gulf Organisation for Research & Development (GORD) at its headquarters in Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP). The specialized session aimed to equip the West African nation’s key decision-makers with the knowledge and tools necessary to integrate world-class sustainability standards into their national infrastructure and development projects.

The comprehensive workshop provided a deep dive into the intricacies of GSAS, a performance-based system used to evaluate the sustainability of buildings and infrastructure projects. The delegation included senior leadership representatives from the Lagos State Ministry of Health, Lagos State Infrastructure Asset Management Agency (LASIAMA), and Alpharex Development Limited.

The day-long program was structured to cover the entire spectrum of the GSAS framework, from foundational principles to practical applications. Participants learned about the GSAS structure, core principles, and its alignment with national sustainability visions, followed by an in-depth look at GSAS Certificatications (GSAS Design & Build, GSAS Construction Management and GSAS Operations), processes, and rating requirements for achieving high environmental benchmarks. For practical application, the delegates were introduced to essential GSAS Tools for project management and assessment.

The workshop concluded with an exclusive tour of the GORD RDI Facility called TechnoHub. The tour provided a firsthand look at GORD’s advanced research and testing capabilities for sustainable building materials and energy efficiency technologies.
