This project aims to develop a mathematical optimisation model for the design of integrated carbon capture, transport and storage infrastructure in Qatar under carbon trading scheme. It determines emission capture location and the capture amount of each power plant. CO2 transportation pipeline network is obtained between various sources and sinks based on their distances and geographic situations. The location selection of the sinks is selected as well as the amount of injection at each reservoir. They are determined by minimising the total CCS infrastructure cost under different CO2 credits prices.

The overall optimisation problem includes: (a) for each sources (power plants), its location, annual CO2 emissions, CO2 compositions in the flue gas; (b) capture and compression technologies, corresponding materials and costs; (c) CO2 pipeline cost based on distance; (d) for each sink (utilisation and sequestration), its type, location, annual CO2 storage estimation, storage limit, and injection costs; (e) CO2 selling price to the utilisation (f) CO2 credit price;

The outcomes will determine (a) CO2 capture amount of each source; (b) CO2 capture technology and its material; (c) sinks to be selected; (d) CO2 storage amount in each sink; (e) pipe line network connecting source and sink; (f) CO2 amount to sell/buy for carbon trading

In order to minimise the total CCS system cost.
