World Cup News: Qatar on track to meet carbon neutral commitments for FIFA World Cup
True to its promise, the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) is on track to deliver the first carbon neutral FIFA World Cup™. The organization has committed that any excess carbon emissions from the tournament will be offset by projects in both the public and private sector.
To achieve this, the SC supported the establishment of the Global Carbon Council (GCC), which has been tasked with identifying quality projects to offset carbon emissions. In line with SC's sustainability targets, the GCC platform will leave an institutional legacy for climate action in Qatar and the region.

تواصل اللجنة العليا للمشاريع والإرث جهودها الرامية إلى تنظيم نسخة محايدة الكربون من بطولة كأس العالم ™FIFA في قطر عام ٢٠٢٢. كما يشار إلى أنه سيجري تعويض الانبعاثات الكربونية الإضافية المرتبطة بمونديال قطر 2022 عبر مشاريع في القطاعين العام والخاص، ولتحقيق هذ الهدف دعمت اللجنة العليا إنشاء المجلس العالمي للبصمة الكربونية المعني بتحديد مشاريع نوعية من شأنها تعويض الانبعاثات الكربونية،
وسيترك المجلس التابع للمنظمة الخليجية للبحث والتطوير “جورد" إرثاً على صعيد العمل المؤسسي ضمن جهود حماية المناخ في قطر والمنطقة.
