GSAS Certified Professionals Refresh their Knowledge at the Refresher Course based on Latest Updates
On 31st March 2018, GORD Academy welcomed around 60 GSAS Certified Green Professionals (CGPs) revisiting for a GSAS Design & Build refresher course at the QNCC.
The workshop was moderated by GSAS team consisting of Dr. Eiman Eliskandarani Engineer Alek Zivkovic and Architect Charles Cutting who updated the delegates on various updates in the system along with a review of the system’s certifications, categories as well as its milestones over the last decade. The delegates were mainly professionals working on various projects in Qatar and the region that are aiming GSAS certifications and they attended this workshop as part of their continuing professional development and to renew their CGP license.
The workshop was highly interactive with delegates asking questions and citing examples from their respective projects. Below are some of the responses from the workshop attendees:
Mario Saab, the Managing Partner of SEEDS s.a.r.l commented:
GSAS is a combination of various systems but focused on the regional needs and advises accordingly which makes it unique from other formats that apply an international system. This whole integrated process is very interesting. And it is admirable how from day one it has been constantly upgraded and modified as per the feedback of the market and consultants.
Rüveyde Tüba Keaeciler, Design Manager at KALYON, Turkey added,
I have come from Ankara to attend this workshop because I’m very happy to have been a part of the GSAS and would make any extra effort needed to stay associated in future. Being a GSAS-CGP for about 3 years, I have worked on projects here in Lusail and now that I am back in my country, I’m hoping to be able to implement these practices there as well. I believe by doing so, we will be able to reduce the waste of material and resources as well as that of time and effort.
Mr. Nayeem Alware, Sustainability Manager at J&P Ltd. commented,
I have been a GSAS-CGP for over 7 years and it has been a wonderful journey. GSAS is just what this region needs to measure the performance of a building. All these events and workshops are very useful for us to learn about the system as well as about the other projects and best practices that we can also adopt.
Sami Husain, Senior Electrical Engineer from Projacs International Qatar also said,
I’ve been a CGP for almost seven years now and have attended most of the events by GORD and I find them very useful. Having worked on most of the Aspire projects and now the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar™, I believe they add a lot of value to our projects.
