Dr. Yousef Alhorr and HRH Prince Charles

Gulf Organization for Research and Development (GORD), the regional leader in sustainable built-environment solutions, shared its impressive array of research initiatives with HRH Prince Charles during his recent visit to Qatar on 24th February 2014.

GORD founding chairman Dr Yousef Al Horr presented on behalf of the Education and Research group the theme of Sustainable Development in Qatar to HRH Prince Charles, and detailed his organisation award-winning work, from sustainable construction codes to pioneering research collaboration with UK-based universities.

Qatar places strong emphasis on environmental sustainability, as the country constitution explicitly acknowledges the importance of protecting the environment, while the Qatar National Vision 2030 regards the environment as one of its four guiding pillars of developments, noted Dr Yousef Al Horr.

ìIn line with such direction, GORD was established to promote sustainable urbanization, conduct research on issues related to conserving natural resources and advance knowledge on sustainable materials and technologies, added Dr Al Horr.

In particular, Dr Al Horr highlighted GORD research partnerships with UK-based universities such as with the University College London (UCL), University of Southampton, and University of Aberdeen.

To provide a strong sense of realization of research outcomes, GORD further manages a peer-reviewed, high-quality journal http://www.journals.elsevier.com/international-journal-of-sustainable-built-environment to provide authoritative and insightful news and interpretation of topical and upcoming research streams in built environment.

GORD Institute, together with GORD Academy, GORD Trust, and GORD Consult forms one of the main centres of excellence of GORD.
