GSAS at Recycling Towards Sustainability Conference

The Gulf Organisation for Research & Development (GORD) recently joined the 4th Recycling Towards Sustainability Conference, held at the International Horticultural Expo 2023 Doha on February 14 and 15, 2024. Organized by Qatar’s Ministry of Municipality and Environment, the conference provided a platform for industry leaders to exchange insights and experiences in waste management and recycling.

During the event, senior representative from GORD highlighted various waste management efforts done to enhance the environmental performance of the Expo. Drawing attention to the implementation of GSAS EcoLeaf, a new sustainability certification developed by GORD as part of the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS), the presentation elucidated the Expo's commitment to environmental stewardship. GSAS EcoLeaf is designed to significantly enhance the sustainability and environmental performance of mega events, such as expos and festivals. By incorporating sustainability best practices into every stage of planning, design, construction, operations and dismantling of such events, GSAS EcoLeaf aims to reduce the carbon footprint of purpose-built and temporary facilities while ensuring the wellbeing of users and protecting the environment.

The 4th Recycling Towards Sustainability Conference featured workshops, seminars and lectures delivered by both local and international experts. During the two-day event, participants shared their experiences and insights, offering valuable perspectives on waste management and recycling practices. Through collaborative discourse, attendees explored innovative solutions to address the pressing challenges facing the industry.
