Dr Yousef presents QSAS during a seminar "Building Sustainable Communities" organized by British Embassy & Msheireb Properties

British Embassy, represented by UK Trade and Investment, conducted a seminar “Building Sustainable Communities” on 23rd of January at the Diplomatic Club.

HE Mr John Hawkins, British Ambassador to Qatar, and Dr Yousef Al Horr, Founding Chairman Gulf Organisation for Research & Development inaugurated the opening ceremony.

A specialist trade mission of 18 companies from the UK is attending the two-day seminar at the Diplomatic Club.

The seminar, “Building Sustainable Communities” is being jointly organised by the British embassy and the Msheireb Properties.

The seminar was formally opened by the British ambassador John Hawkins followed by Dr Yousef Al Horr, the Founding Chairman of Gulf Organisation for Research and Development.

The British Ambassador said: “The seminar comes at a time when the commercial and energy partnership between the UK and Qatar is flourishing. UK businesses are playing an increasingly important and visible role here. I am delighted to see so many Qatari organisations and companies attending this event.”

UK companies taking part in the Trade Mission cover a wide range of skills including feasibility, planning and engineering services.

Dr Yousef Al Horr, Founding Chairman of Qatar Organisation for Research and Development said: “We are happy to see this number of UK companies showing interest in Qatar’s sustainability and we feel proud that Qatar Government has adopted QSAS as the only rating system to be used in Qatar Construction Standards 2010.”
