Austrian Ambassador discussed collaboration options on sustainability projects during his visit to GORD
On Thursday, 5th October 2017, the first resident Austrian Ambassador to the State of Qatar, HE Mr. Willy Kempel visited GORD office with a delegation consisting of representatives of international organizations namely Ms. Kari Aina Eik, Secretary General of Organization of International Economic Relations (OiER) and Mr. Fabricio PROTTI, CEO Bolloré Energy. Together, they met Dr. Yousef Alhorr (Founding Chairman GORD) and other GORD officials and discussed numerous topics of mutual interest and the possibility of collaboration on various sustainability forums.
Dr. Yousef welcomed the guests and appreciated their initiatives and ideas and gave them an overview of GORD, its Centers of Excellence and other initiatives such as the GORD’s Bgreen sustainability awareness set up at KidzMondo Qatar. He also invited them to attend the upcoming Sustainability Summit 2017 and speak on topics related to their areas of expertise.
The Ambassador welcomed the opportunity to speak at the event given his interest in science and technology, particularly in environmental issues. He further commented that he was fortunate to visit GORD and see their focus on the future of energy, climate, transport, and many more topics and that he is looking forward to revisit soon.
Ms. Kari Aina Eik, Secretary General of OiER in Austria briefed about the scope of work of her organization which is building partnerships and identifying trends in a global context and in addressing key future- oriented issues in areas of sustainability, innovation, communication, environment, energy and mobility. OiER is currently leading the program “United Smart Cities” where UN has set sustainability standards in 91 areas.
Mr. Fabricio PROTTI, CEO Bolloré Energy introduced his organization which is the leading French provider for energy storage solutions especially using lithium based batteries suitable for outdoor with high temperature conditions. He further spoke about various sustainable solutions and business models for the future of electric mobility.
In the end, Dr. Yousef thanked HE Mr. Willy Kempel along with honorable the guests for their visit. He appreciated the ideas shared and hoped to take the discussions to the next level by working together to achieve the common goals.
