A new GSAS - CGP Workshop in Jordan reinforces the practices of sustainability

GORD organized a 3-day training workshop for engineers in Jordan in collaboration with the Jordanian Engineers Association (JEA), starting from 2nd until 4th of November 2014 at Kempinski Hotel in Amman, Jordan.

This workshop came as a result of the common objectives of GORD & JEA, on which both are extending strenuous efforts towards creating a sustainable built environment which limits the ecological impacts towards the environment while addressing the demands and needs of local communities in the MENA region. Practicing Professionals working within the construction industry participated in the workshop had improved their skills and enhanced their knowledge related to the sustainability best practices adopted by GSAS.

The workshop aims to provide legates with the necessary tools and means of sustainable development giving them the opportunity to create sustainable building projects within the Kingdom of Jordan in accordance with GSAS standards.

On the other hand, Dr. Yousef Alhorr valued the understanding of JEA toward the feasibility and importance of GSAS standards, and the growing demand within the construction industry in Jordan on the Certified Green Professionals, commenting: “One of GSAS main objectives is the dissemination of awareness for all whose working in the construction industry and indeed for all people living in the world, about the importance of behaving sustainably which can lead to conserving natural resources, protecting the environment, and improving human wellbeing". He added: “Holding such a workshop in Jordan is good news toward spilling over the sustainability concepts according to GSAS standards, and the understanding of the syndicates, associations and engineering society in the Arab world, the importance of increasing the cognitive awareness in GSAS standards and its application in their own countries in order to preserve natural resources and improve the manners and practices in managing and constructing developments."

Moreover, Dr. Habib Mousa, Asst. Secretary General of JEA, kicked off the workshop with an opening speech: “The JEA throughout its Training Center is working hardly to develop a sustainable engineering society in partnership with GORD." Stressing out that JEA is moving forward towards improving the Jordanian & Arabian engineers and enhance their capabilities and expertise and increase their knowledge in sustainability, and raise the competitiveness of their abilities, which qualifies them to compete and get better jobs inside and outside the Kingdom as well as promotes their privileges and incentives.
