GORD and Dar Al Sharq Group sign an agreement to organize the Green Expo 2017 Exhibition & Conference. Dr. Yousef Al-Horr: “Green Expo 2017 is an international platform for green advocates to share knowledge, exchange ideas and showcase their latest green technologies, solutions, innovations & do business. Al-Harami: “Dar Al-Sharq’s media expertise will help bridging businesses & projects in bringing together the green environment projects and the business community in Qatar"

Doha, June 4, 2016, Gulf Organisation for Research and Development (GORD), in cooperation with Dar Al-Sharq Group, announced the launch of Green Expo 2017 which is going to be one of the region’s biggest exhibitions & conferences addressing wide spectrum sustainable solutions for the region to witness. As per the agreement signed between the two parties, the 1st Green Expo will be organized in 2017, to be followed by the same event every consecutive year.

Green Expo 2017 includes the following events:

  • Green Expo exhibition
  • Sustainable Urban Environment Conference
  • Carbon and Climate Change Summit
  • Sustainability Awards

On the launch of Green Expo 2017, Dr. Yousef Al-Horr, GORD’s Founding Chairman and head of the organizing committee said, “Organizing such a huge event was only possible with the efforts of GORD and its principal partners to promote sustainability best practices on all levels & in different sectors which will strengthen Qatar’s position as “Capital of Green.”

In a speech following the signing ceremony, Dr. Al-Horr further commented, “This event will provide a unique platform to showcase sustainability best practices in the fields of green building, climate change, clean energy, as well as environment-friendly transportation. The Green Expo will display industry-leading product portfolios and technologies for sustainable design, construction and the built environment, including energy and water saving equipment and products, waste management methodologies, pollution-control and safety, security & disaster prevention among others. Experts will provide information, comparative analysis and demonstration of these products at the exhibition to help industry stakeholders learn more about both locally developed and global green solutions. The exhibition will also provide an opportunity to network and grow businesses."

Mr. Jaber Al Harami, Deputy Chief Executive of Dar Al-Sharq, affirmed that the group has signed this agreement represented by Al-Sharq Media Management, which is experienced in organizing the largest and most important exhibitions and conferences in the state, particularly the Civil Defense Exhibition and Conference, Media Expo, and the Traffic Medicine and Safety (ITMA Congress 2015), besides other major events and exhibitions. He added that the Dar Al-Sharq Group has become a platform for specialized media, supporting national projects ,businesses and all sectors of the society, with services in all media activities.

On his part, Ezzedine Abdel-Rahman, Executive Director of Al Sharq Media Management, and Executive Director of the exhibition, welcomed the agreement, referring that all the expertise, capabilities and experiences of Dar Al-Sharq will be utilized in this strategic agreement, which aims to introduce state of the art green technologies and raise public environmental awareness among

Qatar Has shown firm commitment towards sustainability, in line with the directions of His Highness the Emir and the Qatar National Vision 2030. The “Green Expo 2017” is yet another initiative by the Gulf Organization for Research and Development in our pursuit to position “Qatar, the capital of green”. It will reinforce Qatar’s global role in promoting sustainability.

The announcement of the exhibition is in line with the State of Qatar’s quest to be at the forefront of sustainable development and green building in the region, the green building market being one of the fastest growing sectors in the world with a turnover of more than 500 billion dollars, according to the estimates of “INSEAD" University of Business Management, with estimates hitting a roof of trillion dollars within a few years. Qatar continues to launch and implement mega-projects in the sectors of construction and infrastructure worth more than hundreds of billions dollars until the year 2022, providing local, regional and international companies opportunities to market their products and solutions for various kinds of building and infrastructure projects.
