GORD is a very important organization with a noble mandate. The region knows this organization’s achievements and it will be a good step for us in Oman to collaborate with GORD in areas of interest.

The Gulf Organisation for Research & Development (GORD) has concluded the initial round of talks with the Supreme Council for Planning representing the Sultanate of Oman. Held on Thursday, June 13 at GORD’s headquarter in Qatar Science & Technology Park, the meeting with Oman’s policy makers was arranged with an intention to embark on possible collaboration between the two organizations. Speaking about the visit, HE. Talal Sulaiman Al Rahbi, Deputy Secretary General, Supreme Council for Planning in the Sultanate of Oman, said,

This visit comes as a part of the continuous cooperation between the two countries for the benefits of nations and specifically to talk about building codes. We are here to share knowledge and look in to the extensive experience of GORD in formulating the building codes, and what they have been providing to the region in terms of technical support and training. Today was a very valuable meeting. The intention is to continue this cooperation between the two organizations.

Oman’s Supreme Council for Planning is the organization responsible for the country’s sustainable development in line with Oman Vision 2040. Acknowledging GORD’s expertise, HE. Al Rahbi said,

GORD is a very important organization with a noble mandate. Its track record is well-known now. The region knows this organization’s achievements and it will be a good step for us in Oman to collaborate with GORD in areas of interest.

With a series of talks expected to take place in the near future, the recent meeting between the two entities come at a time when Oman is actively driving its sustainability agenda as guided by the nation’s five-year plan and Oman Vision 2040.

Speaking on the sidelines of the meeting, Dr. Yousef Alhorr, Chairman of GORD, said,

Following the first round of talks, representatives from GORD and Oman’s Supreme Council for Planning are expected to gather soon to discuss on next steps towards a strategic relationship between the two organizations.
