GSAS projects database and Arabic website among newly introduced features of GORD’s website

Aug 25,2019

Strengthening its online presence, GORD has launched the Arabic version of its website featuring technical manuals, industry news and research content. Another key update made on the organization’s website is the introduction of Projects section, providing a database of GSAS-certified green projects in Qatar and beyond.

GORD has launched the Arabic version of its website featuring technical manuals, industry news and research content.

Continuing its position as the region’s sustainability hub, the Gulf Organisation for Research & Development (GORD) has granted public access to its database of green projects in Qatar and the Gulf region. Rolling out a new section called “Projects” on its website, the online portal now lists projects certified under Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS). With some of these projects currently in early stages of development, the list will be regularly updated with latest images and details as each project progresses towards completion. Essentially, the launch of “Projects” is aimed at promoting green construction practices in the region while also fostering research in the sustainability milieu.

Starting with a brief overview, each project is featured with data about its GSAS attainment level in terms of rating to provide an idea about its green credentials. All GSAS projects listed within “Projects” can be classified and sorted with respect to their schemes, locations and corresponding GSAS certifications, depending on the information needs of the visitor. The database is first of its kind, compiling information about all GSAS-certified projects in one place. The recent addition of “Projects” section comes as a part of various other steps taken by GORD to revamp its online presence. Another such initiative is the launch of the organization’s Arabic website, supplementing its news, research and technical content previously available in English language only.

With zero reliance on automated translation tools, the development of Arabic content follows a tedious process that involved native speakers and professional translators collaborating to create semantically and grammatically correct copies. Ultimately, the Arabic portal serves multiple purposes. For natives, the availability of technical content in Arabic will provide enhanced understanding in the field of sustainability. For GORD, the initiative will lead to increased reach and more effective knowledge dissemination. At the same time, the Arabic version of GORD’s website will help preserve and promote the region’s linguistic identity, tied closely to the Arab cultural heritage.

Together, the launch of Arabic website and GSAS projects database are steps intended to promote awareness and build capacity through knowledge dissemination, thereby reflecting key aspects of GORD’s corporate vision.
