The Advanced GSAS-CM CGP Workshop Equips 28 Construction Professionals with the Knowledge to Become Sustainable Construction Champions

GORD Academy’s two-day GSAS-CM Workshop trains 28 professionals from the local construction industry to minimize the negative environmental impacts during the construction stage at the latest GSAS-CM CGP Workshop held at QNCC last week.

The GSAS-CM CGP Workshop is a specialized course that has been designed to help contractors understand more about sustainability during the construction stage and explain to them how GSAS rating system can be incorporate into their projects to minimize the negative environmental impacts during the construction stage.

The GSAS Construction Management Certified Green Professional Workshop (GSAS-CM CGP) is part of the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs organized by GORD Academy to promote sustainable build environment and craft a green legacy. An enriching learning environment with a particular focus on the MENA region, the CPD series of workshops aims to catalyze a grassroot change in the sustainability scene in the region by promoting sustainable built environment, healthier communities and greener world.

As part of this advanced course, professionals from the construction industry were also highly trained to ensure the compliance of all construction activities to the best sustainability practices and that construction activities are targeted effectively at achieving GSAS-CM Certification requirements. The delegates were also trained on ways to conserve energy, reduce water waste, and minimize the negative environmental impacts onsite, during construction stage.

The primary objective of GSAS CM CGP Workshop is to create a sustainable built environment that minimizes ecological impact on the surrounding environment such as on on-site soil and marine-life while addressing the specific social and cultural needs and environment of the region.

Three sustainability experts from GSAS project management team tutored last week’s GSAS CM CGP Workshop and introduced the delegated to the different pillars of sustainability during construction stage.

Since establishment, GORD has been working to harness its research capabilities to establish a comprehensive and effective sustainable built environment framework through which GORD aims to support the nation’s 2030 National Vision to achieve sustainable development. The two-day workshop was rich in its offerings, as it featured dynamic engagement and specialized discussions.

Dr. Yousef Al Horr, Founding Chairman of GORD said that “as Qatar continues to creating a dynamic and diversified economy by investing in new world-class infrastructure projects, GORD works to bridge the gap between the present and the future by offering advanced sustainable construction scheme for engineers and contractors to meet the demand for sustainable buildings in the region and minimize the negative environmental impacts during the construction stage.” 

He also added that GORD is breaking new grounds in the field of sustainability to address today’s most stressing environmental challenges considering the uniqueness of the region’s climate and environment.
