GSAS-CGP Workshop Now in Oman!

Nov 24,2016

In cooperation with the GCC Standardization Organization (GSO), Gulf Organisation for Research and Development organized the first GSAS-CGP workshop at The Platinum in Muscat, Oman from 21-23 November, 2016.

The workshop was attended by a diverse group of 40 professionals representing nine countries including Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, India and Britain. The audience comprised of a good mix of representatives from government sector as well as contractors and consultants from the private sector.

During the workshop Dr. Esam Elsarrag, GORD’s Director of Research gave an overview of various GSAS procedures, tools, applications and assessment requirements, and highlighted the unique advantages of the system that address local challenges and requirements.

The participants reciprocated with an energetic response to the system's relevance and benefits, specifically for the region. They requested additional workshops to be arranged for local professionals who do not have access to such courses abroad. Also, it was highlighted that more efforts are needed to change the general mindset about the high cost impact of green construction by creating awareness about its various long term socio-economic benefits.

At the end of the workshop, Dr.Yousef Alhorr, Founding Chairman of GORD welcomed the participants to the community of green professionals and stressed on the importance of its advocacy in order to create the much needed awareness about sustainability. He further commented on the well rounded approach of GORD towards sustainable solutions through its various initiatives of which the CGPs are an active component.
