GORD ventured into a new partnership with University College London to expand research activities

GORD signed lately a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with University College London (UCL) to expand research activities and strengthen academic capacities.

The MOU was concluded by Dr. Yousef Al Horr Founder and Chairman of GORD and Professor Michael Worton, vice – provost (international) UCL.

The partnership between GORD and UCL will benefit both parties in terms of development of joint and comparative research projects, technical services, training and consultancy. Projects will include energy epidemiology, urban heat island, schools, system modelling as well as other energy related topics which can be of mutual interest and expertise.

Speaking of the partnership, Dr. Yousef Al Horr said, “We’re confident that UCL is the right partner for GORD and, we have been working with this highly reputed university in order to bring the best expertise to Qatar and enhance knowledge transfer. We are very delighted to announce this venture and hope it will be of great impact on the research and development field not only in Qatar but the whole region’’.

“We have succeeded to promote for responsible building practices and it is very essential to partner with experts and organisations from all over the world to implement those practices’’, added Dr. Al Horr.

On the other hand, Professor Micheal Worton said, “This is a massively important partnership for both parties. The University College London has great expectations in the Qatari market. This dynamic country represents many opportunities and has expressed great will to expand research especially in sustainable development’’.

UCL is highly reputed public research university comprising of 10 constituent faculties, within which there are over 100 departments, institutes and research centres. UCL has over 4,000 academic and research staff and 648 professors, the highest number of any British university. There are 26 Nobel Prize winners and three Fields Medallists among UCL’s alumni and current and former staff.
