More than 35 practitioners, representing more than 28 local companies, participated in the three-day GSAS-D&B CGP Workshop organized by GORD Academy at Qatar Science & Technology Park’s Innovation Center from November 13th till 15th, 2018.

The GSAS Design & Build Certified Green Professional (GSAS-D&B CGP) workshop is a part of the interdisciplinary Continuing Professional Development (CPD) series of workshops that aims to craft a sustainable built environment, healthier communities and cleaner world by cultivating an enriching learning environment and promoting the most up-to-date knowledge in the field of sustainability for professionals and corporations.

Throughout the three days, delegates learned about GSAS rating system, GSAS various certificates, and intensively tutored the GSAS-D&B certification categories, criteria, measurement and scoring, requirements and process.

Led by Dr. Eiman El-lskandarani, GSAS Trust’s experts Charles Cutting, Ruben Munoz, Alek Zivkovic and Zaki Mohammed presented to delegates the various architectural, civil, electrical and mechanical elements of sustainability in design and build.

GORD Chairman

Dr. Yousef Alhorr, Founding Chairman of GORD, said that “we believe that GSAS-D&B Workshop allows the delegates to have a contextual look at sustainability best practices in the region and engaged in an exclusive dynamic learning opportunity, which will, in turn, empower them to lead and influence the sustainability scene both in Qatar and the region in the near future.”

In his open discussion with the delegates, Dr. Alhorr praised the State of Qatar’s efforts to adopt the best sustainability practices in its various legacy and infrastructure projects and promote sustainability both locally and regionally.

“The implementation of best sustainability practices in Qatar is moving in a fast pace considering the geographical size of the nation,” said Dr. Alhorr. He also added that more than 1.5 billion square feet of masterplan cities have been assessed using GSAS since 2009.
