Australian Ambassador visited GORD to learn about various initiatives

Oct 04,2017

On Tuesday, 26th September 2017, His Excellency Mr. Axel Wabenhorst, the Ambassador of Australia to Qatar, visited GORD head office in the QSTP and met with Dr. Yousef Alhorr (Founding Chairman GORD) and Dr. Esam Elsarrag (Director R&D GORD). The ambassador was briefed about various initiatives and projects of GORD that aim to provide sustainable solutions to various environmental challenges faced by the MENA region and Qatar in particular.

Acknowledging the visit, the ambassador commented,

“It has been a fascinating visit as I didn’t quiet realize the focus here on sustainability and standardization. I see a lot of potential of cooperation given the similarities in climate and the challenges we face specially when it comes to saving water and keeping buildings cool efficiently and the safety standards for infrastructure.”

Dr. Yousef Alhorr extended the invitation of Sustainability Summit 2017 to His Excellency and for experts, researchers and professionals from Australia which the Ambassador termed as a fantastic opportunity for people to come here and find out about the various opportunities of exchanging ideas and methodologies in the field of sustainability.

Dr. Esam Elsarrag later accompanied the Ambassador to the research facility of GORD, TechnoHub where he showed him various research initiatives and solutions developed by GORD such as the QCool hybrid and super-efficient cooling system and other renewable energy and water resources and technology related projects.
