CGP's Return to GORD Academy to Attend GSAS Refresher Course

Sep 27,2017

On Saturday, 23rd September 2017, sixty-one Certified Green Professionals (CGPs) attended a GSAS Refresher course in QNCC moderated by Dr Esam Elsarrag (Director R&D GORD) who presented various updates related to GSAS v2.1. These professionals are working on various projects in Qatar and the region that are aiming GSAS certifications and they attended this workshop as part of their continuing professional development and to renew their CGP license.

Workshop attendees actively participated by asking questions and citing examples from their respective projects. They appreciated for having an opportunity to refresh their learning and suggested to have more such sessions during the year.

Talking about the workshop, Ahmed El Ansary, the Architectural Deptartment Deputy Manager at EGEC Qatar for Engineering Consultations said,

“I have been a CGP for 4 years now. We are working on many projects in Lusail city. Earlier we used to assign consultants to implement GSAS but this year we are directly working on it so it’s good to have this refresher to be updated about various new additions and other information.”

Also, Bevan Dane Van Blommestein, the Sustainability Specialist at Dorsch Qatar commented,

“My role is more of facilitating and overseeing the implementation of GSAS and I’d like to say it’s more of a teamwork with GORD. Their open-door policy really helps to get any information or to discuss any issues with the project managers there. And although It’s been just 7 months since I took the CGP exam, I still find these sessions to be quite helpful in refreshing your knowledge and understanding.”

GORD Academy periodically conducts Refresher Courses that are developed to give practitioners a chance to update their knowledge based on the latest addenda to GSAS manuals, Categories & Criteria, calculators, toolkits, and GSASgate.
