Jul 24,2017

On 23rd July, 2017, GORD awarded GSAS certificates & plaques to Galfar Al Misnad for their newly constructed 8 kindergarten projects designed by Ashghal to achieve GSAS 3 STARS rating. Dr. Yousef Alhorr (GORD's Founding Chairman) acknowledged the GSAS Service Provider Galfar Al Misnad for their contribution in achieving another milestone towards a greener, sustainable Qatar as green school buildings provide a better and healthier learning environment to the students and help reduce the country's carbon footprint.

Mr.Satish G Pillai, Executive Director, Galfar Al Misnad commented on achieving the milestone, "Galfar is really happy to be associated with many projects which are complying with the GSAS rating system to achieve Qatar’s national vision and sustainable development. I take this opportunity to thank & appreciate Ashghal & GORD for their support and efforts in implementing sustainability in Qatar market".  Mr. Sheeju David, Head of the Buildings division at Galfar Al Misnad received the certificates from Dr. Esam Elsarrag, (Director Research & Development GORD).

Recently, around 50 kindergarten and school projects were initiated by Ashghal Public Works Authority in Qatar, of which many have already received certification and are now operational. It is worth noting that all these school projects are designed and built to achieve a minimum of GSAS 3 Stars Rating. To be specific, the GSAS Education Certification offers a sustainability guideline for a variety of establishments including kindergartens, K12 school buildings, colleges, university facilities research and development centers and labs. The process consists of eight categories featuring more than 50 criteria covering all the sustainability requirements in this type of building specifically considering the climatic and cultural needs of the GCC countries.
